a tribute to the music and style
of the Goddess of Rock
"You can see why empowered females like Sarah McLachlan and Sheryl Crow are lining up to pay their respect [to Stevie Nicks].
There has always been a warm sisterliness about Stevie Nicks' music. The women in Nicks' songs are
free birds and gypsies, in tune with the moon
and the sea, independent, unafraid to be alone, uncaged. In the manly world of rock 'n' roll,
Stevie Nicks articulated a yearning female spirituality. She put her womanliness right out there,
undiluted. She was Lilith Fair before there was Lilith Fair."
- Joyce Millman
I first got
hooked on Stevie's sound when I heard Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon" in 1976.
And I adored her floaty, flowy wardrobe!
IMO, personal style isn't just fashion, it's metaphor...
if you're wearing something that you really love, this can express your essence and
reflect your soul, sometimes as truly or even more truly than what you say or what you do.
Anyroad, I guess romantigoth best describes my style.
I'd been in love with romantic vintage clothing since "Dark Shadows" took it's vampiric soap
opera into the past and introduced us hippies of the 1960s to the Empire look of the late 1700s/early 1800s.
This triggered an interest in the history of costume which led me to the flowing goddess-robes
of ancient Greece which led me to Isadora Duncan's neo-Greek dance dresses of the 1920s which of course led me
right back to Stevie! So this site is going to be as much about Stevie's look as her sound...
in other words,
lots of pictures... of Stevie, those who inspired her, and those whom she inspires. So if you have a picture of
yourself in Enchantress mode, send it to me at
and I'll add it to the
fan gallery.
Stevie Nicks visits the set of Glee!
A decade after her last solo album, Nicks, the smoky-voiced Fleetwood Mac star, has a new single, "Secret Love" -- the first from her much anticipated album, "In Your Dreams" -- and is preparing to tour with Rod Stewart.
At 62, the rock legend maintains cult status. When "Secret Love" leaked on the Internet, Perez Hilton posted it on his Web site. When she turned up at a recent taping of "Glee," with Gwyneth Paltrow, star Dianna Agron and other cast members were reduced to tears.
"She kind of made us all cry because she came and she said, 'If I hadn't been a musician, I would have been a teacher. And I would've hoped to send this message to kids -- that although there are very important things like math and science and learning, you know, kind of the things that get you through life, there's also you need to find joy. And whether that's through music or dance or things like that, you need to have outlets in your life,'"
Agron, who plays Quinn, told "Entertainment Tonight."
Parts of Stevie's meeting with the Glee cast was recorded... check out the video!
Nicks, who is a fan of the show, was just as moved being on the set.
"That show just makes me happy," she said, adding that a great night to her is sitting on her pink couch, drinking chai tea while watching two or three episodes in a row.
"I find it very inspiring," she said. "If I had had children, any one of them would have been a great child to have. They do such an amazing job musically."
The cast of Glee are expected to perform the Nicks-penned track 'Landslide' on an upcoming installment and there are rumors that Stevie may make a cameo appearance on a future episode. All appendages crossed that this is true!

When they are touring, tickets to many Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac shows are on sale at Ticketmaster.
If you don't like what they have to offer,
you can often find good seats at and sometimes at reasonable prices on eBay , if you don't mind taking a chance
and waiting until almost-showdate. There are also many online ticket brokers selling Stevie Nicks concert tickets.
The Shangri-la Tour, 2001
My husband John and I first saw Stevie together at Jones Beach the summer of 2001 and she was amazing!
The tickets weren't great... not the cheapest but not the best either... John bought them
and doesn't understand the importance of being up close and personal at concerts LOL!
but I was thrilled to be there just the same and touched that he bought them for us.
Anyroad, we were in the center of the "second tier" which is pretty much right in the
middle of the the audience. We were lucky to be dead center so at times Stevie really
seemed to be singing right at us :-) She was in good voice that night, IMO....not belting
them all out like she did 20 years ago but her voice has gained subtlety and her emotions
still come through loud and clear. Stand out songs for me were a full throated Edge of
Seventeen... I think the entire crowd was up, screaming and thumping and singing along for
this one... and a gorgeous Rhiannon that started slow and soft and poignant and then
absolutely roared with intensity. Stand Back also got a lot of audience reaction...
as well it should have, it was rock-out fabulous. We were treated to a hightop sneakered
kick on that one :-) Fall From Grace and Bombay Sapphires were wonderful and Sheryl Crow
added some lovely harmonies to Too Far From Texas. I think this was the crowd's favorite
of the new songs. And Stevie's wardrobe as usual was to die for... those ethereal hems and
flowing shawls... (sigh)
I love the way Stevie's appeal cuts across generations. Before the show started,
I heard a teenaged girl behind me talking to her friend on her cell saying
"half the crowd is my mother's age and half is mine. It's weird!"
I'm 50 so I'm probably older than her mom, LOL! And there were two guys sitting in
front of us in their mid 20s who were ecstatic through the whole show, clapping and stomping
and every once in a while letting out a "I love you Stevie!" which pretty much summed up
everybody's thoughts that night :-)
Very similar to the instruments Stevie plays on stage, this tambourine
is available at ZZsounds online music store. The colors available vary but I've seen it in
black, red, yellow, purple, blue and white.
