Though the witchcraft they practice isn't exactly real world Wicca, like so many TV viewers I can't help by be charmed by the Halliwell sisters. And as they are "good witches", the show does have a positive influence on mainstream America's view of The Craft and Paganism generally. As an eclectic pantheist I think this is definitely a Good Thing. Promoting diversity & tolerance is always a Good Thing!

My Dad's side of the family is Irish, Scottish & Welsh which might explain my fascination with the beauty and symbolism of Celtic knotwork. The Triquetra has always been one of my favorite Celtic knots so I love that the creators of Charmed made a Triquetra the focal point of the symbol on the cover of the Halliwell sisters' Book of Shadows. I've designed several pieces of jewelry featuring Celtic knotwork which can be purchased at Gypsy Cat Jewelry, my online store. These pieces were particularly inspired by the Charmed Ones.

Each necklace & pair of earrings has its own energy & personality so of course each piece not only comes in its own gift box, but has its own name :-) Next to each photo is a brief description followed by the price. I prefer to be paid online via PayPal but also accept Western Union and USPS money orders sent through the mail from buyers within the U.S. only; email me for details.

I am usually able to ship within 72 hours of payment and always use USPS priority mail so if you live in the continental U.S. your package should arrive in a week or less; shipments to Alaska or Hawaii might take a bit longer.

This graceful magickal necklace is made entirely of sterling silver and includes four sterling silver crescent moons - two waxing, two waning - and a dangling triquetra circle pendant. The Triquetra, the sterling silver Celtic knot featured in this necklace, was a symbol of the cycles of life - birth, death & rebirth - for the ancient Celts. To Wiccans it symbolizes the Triple Goddess & the 3 phases of the moon so it was a perfect choice to use as a focal point for the Charmed Halliwell sisters' Power of Three symbol on their Book of Shadows. This necklace measures 16" around and closes in back with a lobster claw clasp. The triquetra pendant measures 3/4" by 3/4" not including the bail.

The story of Charmed began with the three Halliwell sisters — Prue, Piper and Phoebe — coming together six months after the death of their grandmother. Moving back into the family Manor in San Francisco, the youngest sister, Phoebe, discovered an old book — the Book of Shadows — in the attic. Reading an incantation from it, she unwittingly set in motion events that fulfilled an ancient prophecy. Strange and harrowing occurrences began which eventually led the sisters to realize that they are witches. They discovered that not only do they possess supernatural powers, they come from a long line of powerful witches. The first in the line, Melinda Warren, was burned at the stake. However, before she died, Melinda prophesied that each coming generation of Warren (later Halliwell) witches would grow stronger and stronger, culminating in the arrival of three sisters -- the strongest good witches the world had ever seen. Prue Halliwell, the oldest sister, developed the power of telekinesis, later gaining the power of astral projection. Piper, the middle child, was initially given the power to freeze molecules, later developing the power to blow things up: molecular combustion. Phoebe, the youngest sister, had the original power of premonition, at first being able to see future events and later past events as well. She later obtained the power to levitate; in addition, her empathic powers developed in later years.

sterling silver Triquetra When Shannon left the series after three seasons, her character was killed off, leaving the Power of Three broken, until their half-sister Paige (Rose McGowan) was discovered. Paige was the daughter of their mother and their mother's Whitelighter, an ascended spirit who looked after and guarded her. As such, her powers allow her to teleport herself and move things with her mind. She's also a natural healer.

A central theme throughout the show's run is the sisters' struggle to balance normal lives with their supernatural responsibilities. The burden of keeping their destinies a secret from the outside world has repeatedly created tensions in their friendships, workplaces, and romantic relationships. Only a few knew their secret and helped them on a regular basis. The most important is Leo Wyatt, a Whitelighter assigned by the Elders to guide and protect the sisters. Leo means a great deal to the sisters both professionally and personally: he heals their wounds, advises them collectively and individually, and mediates between them and the enigmatic Elders. He also becomes the love of Piper's life, her husband and father of her children. Others who have kept the Charmed Ones' secret over the years include policemen Andy Trudeau and Darryl Morris, tormented half-demon Cole Turner, the mysterious time-traveler Chris Perry, the sisters Christy and Billie Jenkins, and Paige's husband, Henry Mitchell. The show ends with all three girls having three children each.
