If you've visited The Meditative Cat during the past 10 years
you know what an incurable ailurophile I am. From domestic cats to
wild jungle cats to Catwoman to the singing & dancing furries of
CATS the musical show, I love
'em all. And I'm not alone.
Cats have fascinated humans for millenia. Maybe it's their ability
to effortlessly blend seemingly contradictory traits:
loyalty and independence, affection & aggression, playfulness & dignity,
curiousity & indifference, earthy sensuality and an otherworldliness
that makes them often seem psychic.
(I personally believe that cats are indeed very intuitive and
sensitive to those they care for) At any rate... to cats,
these traits are not contradictory so what better symbol of
integration and wholeness than the cat?
Cats have long been held sacred and linked to images of power.
In ancient Egypt the Goddess Bast was not only the divine mother of
cats, She was also protectress of the Pharoah and of women,
Goddess of joy, dance, fertility & motherhood. The Egyptian term
for cat was Mau, an imitation of a cats cry and a mother-syllable.
Of course as anyone who has shared his or her life with a cat
knows, there are as many reasons to love cats as there are cat lovers
and none of us need a scientific explanation as to why we do! And
this jewelry collection is for you.
All pieces are handcrafted using only fine sterling silver and
semi precious gemstones such as garnet, black onyx and lavender jade.
The collection is constantly changing; I make each piece myself and
sell a limited number of each design. Some are personal favorites that
I enjoy making so much, they'll be available for quite a while.
Other pieces may be re-worked as new ideas occur to me or new
materials become available. And some creations will be temporarily or
completely abandoned.
We never know what our personal Muses are going to inspire us to do, do we? :-)
I'm also a Reiki healer
and have noticed that the channeled healing energy of Reiki and
the subtle energies of natural gemstones and sterling silver enhance one another beautifully
so all the jewelry I make and sell are charged with Reiki energy as I make them.
For anyone not familiar with Reiki (pronounced ray-key)
it is, in its simplest translation, universal life energy.
If you'd like to learn more about Reiki or if you have a feline family
member who's in need of healing energy, I also host
an online forum The Circle of Healing Purrs
where your cat can receive free distance healing.
peaceful purrs & healing light,
CatAnna aka Catresea Ann Canivan
Each necklace & pair of earrings has its own energy & personality so of course each piece not only comes in its own gift box,
but has its own name :-) Next to each photo is a brief description followed by the price and a link to my PayPal shopping cart. If you have any questions
email me for details.
I am usually able to ship within 72 hours of payment and always use USPS priority
mail so if you live in the continental U.S. your package should arrive in a week or less; shipments to
Alaska or Hawaii might take a bit longer.
My apologies to everyone out there in our global village, but dealing with the
bureaucratic complications of multiple postal services has become too expensive,
too cumbersome and lately, too often unreliable.
I ship all packages within the U.S.
fully insured and with delivery confirmation.

Winged Cat Necklace in Black Onyx temporarily out of stock
A cat with wings? Sure! This coiled choker was inspired by my
"cat angels", all those dearly departed feline family members waiting for
me in the Summerlands...or perhaps the fleeting fairy cats sometimes seen
out of the corner of one's eye ;-) A sterling silver flying cat dangles from
a flexible memory wire necklace covered with
black onyx beads & ornate
handmade Bali silver beads & spacers. And for extra comfort, the
ends aren't just coiled, but are finished with beads.
Cat plus Celtic inspired bail measures 1.5 inches.
All metal is sterling silver, except
the stainless steel memory wire underneath it all. This necklace will
fit most everyone; it's 17" around.

Winged Cat Pentacle Pendant
This design was also inspired by my own
magickal cats;
it's the purrrfect pendant for the witch with a special feline familiar.
A flying cat playfully dangles a crescent moon-cradled pentacle from one paw which in turns
hangs from a large Celtic inspired bail with a raised knotwork design.
This pendant measures 2 3/8" from top to bottom and is made entirely of sterling silver.
The bail opening is 3.4mm x 5.7mm.

10% of the profits from the sale of my jewelry is donated to animal welfare
charities, one of which is Winging Cat Rescue.
Their mission is to save cats and kittens from Death Row, place them in foster care, and ultimately
find forever homes for as many as possible.
They are a nationwide licensed rescue organization currently focusing on (but not exlusive to) an Animal Control Pound in
Griffin, Georgia in the U.S.
This pound uses inhumane gas chambers as their method of "euthanasia" and Winging Cat Rescue is determined to save as many
cats as they can. They rely solely on private donations. Please
visit their website to read more
about their work and view some of the beautiful deserving cats they are trying to help. And if you're a member of Care2, join
Supporters of Winging Cat Rescue, a new group
that has been created (thanks, Andrea!) to help spread the word about this wonderful organization
and to help them to help these and so many other deserving cats. It's free to join and you'll be able to talk to other cat-loving
members and get updates about WCR's cats in need and cats that have been saved too.
You can also see photos of some of the cats WCR has rescued here.
